Recently I posted a thread about my long running battle against Dinos. I noted the repeated unsuccessful attempts in this thread

Well, yesterday while observing my tank I realized the Dinos had disappeared. I cannot believe it, and I have no idea why.
As recently as less than a week ago they were spreading like wildfire. This picture was taken on 3/29/2026 from a tiny sample of a flowing string of reddish-brown snot, which has now disappeared.

As described in my attached thread, over a period of time I tried every solution suggested in the various threads on this topic with no lasting success.

About two weeks ago I made only one change to the system which I guess must have led to this success. I reduced the duration and intensity and color spectrums of the tank's lighting.

I have not taken par readings since the changes but will do so and report back. I will say, the reductions I made, while material, were not so great that the attractiveness of the tank was noticeably diminished.

Previously I had set my lighting levels high to support SPS coral. During the Dino epidemic. most of my coral was killed. As the die off occurred, I moved what surviving coral I could to a 20-gallon quarantine tank where it has survived. The only coral still in the 120 gallon infected tank are several zoa colonies and a couple of mushrooms.

If the dinos don't reappear, I will hold my breath and slowly move some of the quarantined coral back into the tank.

Reducing the lights, could have definitely helped with beating the dinos. But I think your tank probably reached a point where other creatures have been able to thrive and outcompute the dinos. All your attempts have contributed to this and I’m happy for you that things are going well!

Keep up the husbandry and keep them away forever :)
