Dinoflagellates???

We filled our Waterbox 290.6 aquarium on August 1st so we are about 3 months in. I th8 k we have dinosaurs but wanted this brain trust to confirm. I've attached a video.

i got a cheap microscope off amazon to look closer when i had a issue with dinos. theres several pics on the web to see exactly what you have . the one i had looked like seeds swimming around. i did no lights 3 days and treated with micro bactor7

Yes, I've seen this before, and dealing with dinosaurs can be very difficult

I can't see your video, it's best if you can post first to YouTube, and then link your video here on R2R. That way, every will be able to see it

If you do have dinoflagellates (which is quite likely), you can fist try to manually remove what you can, blow it off your rocks with your trusty turkey baster, and siphon it out and/or allow you mechanical filtration to trap it, and then promptly remove and replace the mechanical media. You can up the flow in your tank as well.

You should check your nitrate and phosphate, having either one or both at or very near zero is often said to invite dino's. You want to maintain low, but detectable levels of both.

Does this mess go away at night when the lights go down? If so, they go in to the water column and therefore are a good candidate for using a UV filter to knock out.

Those look quite similar to my dinos, stringy with some bubbles.

I don't know, I've never used it, and I'm not really a fan of dosing all these bottled bacteria products like this one and MB7, but that's just me

I used it when cycling seemed to work great at speeding up the nitrogen cycle , ive seem people claim it cured cyano and since it feeds on other algea and microbes it will likely clear up diatomes and dinos

I saw your other thread, I'd like to follow that and see what people think of this product.

Have you been using the Purple M? What are your thoughts. Brightwells chemist says this is awesome. He sent me a bottle and also a bottle of Coral Inertia NRG+ and said together they are amazing.
