Dinos quick question ❓

I am battling dinos currently and just wanted to ask. Is my answer as simple as I think?

I am thinking all I have to do is dose phosphate to get rid of them.

My current parameters are:

Temp 74-75
Salt 1.025
Amonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrate 10
Phos 0
Cal 400
Mag 1340
Alk 8.0

Ok yeah that works then. In 99% of cases that I have dealt with in person with dinos in my tank ro someone else's, it went away sometime in a few weeks after raising phosphates. I usually like dosing a couple of bacterial cocktails too but that's just me. Sometimes a UV can help but I only like doing that last resort since I keep lots of filter feeders like large feather dusters

I retested after a water change yesterday and still getting similar results. I picked up some neophos and removed the chemi pure elite as that is said to have gfo. I will see what happens in a few days and see if I notice a difference

Run uv at night. Feed your fish flake food with whatever else you feed. Broadcast feed reefroids or equivalent. A more natural way to dose what you need. It take longer but finding the balance for your system is the long term cure..

One more thing. Blow it off rocks and corals with something. I've used a coral feeder and a powerhead. Lol. Good luck.

Do you think finding diatoms and introducing them into my tank will help with my Amphidinium cf. carterae problem I’m having?

I just wanted to give a quick update in that I followed @Duncan62 advice and dosed po4 more naturally with reefroids and hikari clams. I took 2 weeks but all of the diatoms have died out.

You don’t have to introduce diatoms. They’re there. Silica just does the job.
It might help but not solve it.

I'm glad it helped. Keep us posted on the progress of your planted tank. I'm building another now with a scrubber tray but I like the looks of the green in the tank.
