I came back from a week long vacation to find my tomi tang with what I thought was Ich (see pictures). I worked to set up a HT to treat with freshwater dip then cupramine in the HT. In the process of doing that, I lost half the fish in the DT, then most of the survivors in the QT. I’m currently down to just a Toby puffer and a goby in the HT :(

Want to make sure I’m doing what I can for the few survivors, if ich or velvet I’ve read the cupramine is best chance, but if Brook or something else, not so much.

based on pics below, I’d be interested to hear if anyone thinks this was something other than ich or velvet. Figure this is also important for the fallow period on DT.

Velvet outbreak. Quarantine is essential and use copper safe or medication that states “ treats Oofinum”.
Monitor copper levels at 2.25 and increase oxygen
Salinity 1.023 and temp at around 79
Sorry to hear you came home to this

Update, the Toby puffer didn’t make it. Sad, he was my favorite… he was in the cupramine treatment which I knew was risky as puffers are sensitive to copper but it was all I had and felt I had to try something to save him. Now I wonder if his chances would have been better just staying in the DT and hoping for the best as he did not seem bad when I took him out for the FW dip and QT (only a few spots on his fins). Now down to just a Goby which I don’t think I would put back in my DT if he survives treatment, have a smaller 10G tank I will probably rehome him to if he survives. That way I can start fresh after fallow period on the DT…
