I'm running 3 jebao dcp pumps a 3500 5yrs running and never cleaned, a 5000 2yrs and a 15000 10 month. I'm not familiar with the mdp. The dcp are controller only with no wifi but I have no need for Wi-Fi on a return pump. Mine have been flawless.

It’s just a pump set and forget who cares. If you really feel like blowing an extra $300 for nothing go for it I guess.

I would never downgrade from Abyzz, they are that good.

I'm currently running various return pumps across 3 tanks:
1. 450gal: Abyzz A200 & Royal Exclusiv Red Dragon Eco 5 150W (check out my build thread)
Abyzz: VERY reliable, quiet, 10yr warranty - too expensive though
RE Red Dragon: (semi) reliable, quiet, 3yr warranty. I've replaced the controllers - they went bad (very hot and lost connection to the pump). If enough fund comes along, I will replace with another Abyzz. RD are great pumps but I didn't like the controller. Hopefully the new ones are better? Anyway, RE's customer service is awesome - replaced all controllers under warranty.

2. 150gal: DCP 12000
Jebao DCP: going strong 4 years+, zero issues! reliable, quiet, and if this fails, I'll replace with a Vectra M2 (below)

3. 90gal: Ecotech Vectra M2
Ecotech: I love these pumps, easy to dial in with Mobius. Had this for the last 4 years+, no issues! Also have a spare M2 (from old tank) and 2 S2 from smaller tanks. In fact, I've always had Ecotech gear -- Radion, Vortech, Versa, and Vectra...

Mixed feedback for me across different sized-tanks. They all work fine IMO. If you force me to pick one -- for monster tanks, I prefer Abyzz. For small & medium-sized tanks, I prefer Ecotech Vectra.

I can have a Jebao and 30 backups for 1 abyzz. I’ll take my chances on the Jebao. If this is some megabucks no limit large build I guess I get it but I don’t think the op is interested in an abyzz but maybe I’m wrong.

Silent, Pushes TON of water even at 60% through 1.5" PVC split into 4 x 1" outlets; never an issue.

I've had different DC and AC pumps over the years - found the winner; never going back.

I have Vario-S, I have Sicce, Sold the RE I had. Nothing comes close when you look at output, pressure and lack of noise.

Con, they are not cheap - I realize that.

That's certainly an option but I don't think you need 30 backups.

I'll never buy another Jebao product myself; I value reliability above all else.

The Abyzz solves my head pressure challenge. While the sump is not in the basement, the longest return line going back to the DT is 16 feet + 2 x 90deg turns. I might even consider to connect the current sump to the frag tank, which is another 10+ feet, for a total of 26+ feet + some 90 degs & elbows. I don't think that other pumps can do this, even my Red Dragons. Anyway, it's not for everyone but worked for me.

Why Vectra? I like the UPS feature, similar to Vortechs. That is - it will automatically switch over to battery when your power goes out! I have this across all my tanks. It saved me several times before when our city decided to perform "maintenance" for 8+ hours.

I have a basement full of numerous brand return pumps I bought over the 18 years I've had a tank. I wantd a Abyzz for ever just didn't want to spend the money. I finally bought the Abyzz A200. I could of saved a lot if I just got it when I first wanted it. For me by far the best pump I have used.

Perhaps I got a bad batch — the power cable side got REALLY hot and the pump shut off with error codes of 2 and/or 5. So far, the new controllers are working as expected.

If you can run external return, I suggest you look at the Reeflo line of pumps. 5yr warranty on the head, motors reportedly lasting 20+ years, Prices less than a lot of the submersible DC pumps. I had a vortech L1 last about 5 years, running an EFLUX Current usa 3100gph right now, but not happy with the flow, 4ft head and this pump seems sluggish, my next pump will be an external, and most likely a Reeflo.

I am ditching my Jebao mdp-2300 on the 150g. I can’t deal with this thing having a mind of its own. What would be the best replacement pump that would be everyone’s goto?

I have the DCQ-3500 924gph for my 25w UV for 1.5yr. It runs super quiet and consistent.
Im sure its a quality control thing with Jebao.. and sucks that you got a bad one.

But for my main return pump, i use Octo VarioS 6. I have two of these, one as a backup. I truely love these Varios.. they are super strong and oc queit. It has an emergency float valve as well.

Actually, i purchased a VarioS 2 as a back up for my UV, but oc the Jebao is going on strong for 1.5 yrs.

I have seen a couple people here that had an issue. But any concern I've had with them I always have gotten a fast response from Scott. Unfortunately/fortunately it's been on Facebook.
