Anybody have any tips or articles/ pics of their copepod culture station? Helpful tips/explanations are appreciated! Recently started a saltwater tank and it makes sense to be growing my own pods considering the price tag in my LFS and online.

If your tank currently has an ATO, you can easily convert that into a refugium. This does require some good old fashion elbow grease and a little understanding of DIY. You will have to drill through the glass and install a bulkhead and have a good idea of how plumbing works. If done correctly you can culture pods and grow and maintain macro algae for the foreseeable future. Food for your fish and corals as well as extra filtration :) I hope this helps you. Good luck!!

I don’t have one :( it’s a biocube 32. I do have a refugium in the intank media basket with chaeto but I’m skeptical at how well the copepods will consistently reproduce in it.

You will be surprised how easy it is to culture them. Just need some phyto and your good to go. I know it doesn’t sound very sexy, but you can try a copepod hotel. Great for small places, I think it would work well for your situation.

If you already have macro algae growing in your refugium , it should not be very hard to start and maintain. You can easily add this to what you already have :)
