Hello all,
Let me preface by saying that I have never made a tank before so this is going to be new to me.
My buddy just informed be that he can get me glass cut to any specification I would like for dirt cheep or even free! I have always loved peninsula and drop off tanks so I figured, what the h***! I have watched videos on people making different size tanks and the process looks fairly simple (though it could be deceiving). I would love some input, or if your opinions on whether this would work or not.
The plan is to drill it and sump it (which is not included in the sketch because I have no idea how to get that fancy in this software). I have a local guy who told me he could make me any stand, so the plan would be to have the doors, on both sides, without handle and flush, as is in the photo. I also like a little edge on the stand (3") for setting things down and a little extra width for overall stability. Water volume in the display comes to ~43 gallons. I told my glass guy that I would need 3/8" glass. The back wall of the "drop off" part will also be raised an inch to allow for sand/rocks to not just slide of the ledge.
Like I said, thoughts on any of this would be much appreciated! Recommended silicon, tape, techniques, plumbing, stand thoughts, etc. Thanks in advance!
