I have a 48v and 5 amps. but I'll get one specifically for this lamp. I will build two modules and use an individual power supply for each module, this leaves me safe in case one give problems I still have the other luminaire running. At the moment I will use the 4 channel controller I have here to control the two luminaires until I can buy a 5 channel controller.

4.2A per set. That will run 2 "units" (4 pucks, 2 in series) as designed ie. smaller drivers per my suggestion.
If you want a spare..hey go for it..otherwise your 48V one will run one set in a pinch.

AT 12" native spread (most diodes come lensed at 120 degrees-ish.. is around 40"..
Since China rarely wastes anything the guess is those 120mm boards have "other" uses originally..

Hello to all!
I am on planning stage of my new construction. I am thinking to use one of these 21 led 5 channel ones over my 24" deep cube. No sure if this is enough, so I think that I add 14 pcs 3w stars that can fit in my ~7"*5" heatsink. Putting these extras on 3 channels.
I am planning to build Reed Pi to control this.
So my questions are:
- Is it enough light for 24" deep SPS dominated tank?
- Is there anything else I have to consider if using reef-pi with PCA9685?

I want to do a single fixture with 2 pucks. I want to know if the power supply is good enough or if I need something bigger, if the driver selection is ok. Thanks in advance

Looks good to me. I'm using the same fixture works great. I'm using 2 pucks and have had no heat issues, been running about a month. Not only does it stay cool the fan is very quiet. I'm using 3 1000ma and 2 1500ma on mine. Using a comparable 350w-48v meanwell power supply and a storm x controller. Just got the other 4 pucks to finish the last 2 of 3 fixtures.

I run 2 pucks off the 5 drivers, they are wired in series. I went with the storm x because I really dont see myself using wifi control. Once the settings are figured out I doubt I'll change them very often. So the storm was a good fit for me.

Plan to add 2 royal blue cree leds to each fixture (6 total) so I can utilize the lunar cycle function on the storm. Hoping running a lunar cycle will encourage my rock flowers to spawn.

Over all I'm very happy with the quality of the pucks. The white channels are a bit over powering but the spectrums blend very well, no real multi colored disco effect to be seen. The fixtures are nice, good build quality, light weight but not flimsy at all. Also very happy with the storm x, easy to use, lots of features and settings.

One benefit of the storm x over the bluefish is the number of channels, storm x has 16 the bluefish has 6 . I will have 3 fixtures over a 6' long tank. Each fixture will occupy 5 channels, meaning I can control each of the 3 completely independently and have a 16th channel left to run lunar lights, fan controller or temp probe.

I am sorry for asking so many questions. For 6 total pucks do you need more drivers? I just copy what advance DIYers are doing, if I want to get 3 pucks and get a 24"enclosure what changes would I need to do?

You can make a DIY storm X, quite simple, roughly $20 I've posted the schematic on ultimate reef forum in the DIY led section, I'm using this for well over a year now, however I'll be going hybrid so will be switching from reef-pi to jayfish controller as the lighting schedule works better for my set up and the storm X I'll keep as a spare.

It will be over a 36" x 20" roughly 90 gallons. I was thinking on getting 3 pucks in a single fixture by using either one of those 2 enclosures:

That fixture is exactly the same as the one I have and posted, that one is just 8" longer. I think you could get away with 5 drivers 2-1500ma and 3-1000ma. Get a 5 driver board and solder them to it (its not hard). Just make sure the board will support a 1500ma driver. You could also use a smaller power supply (200w). If you get the board I posted, i recommend getting these DIP sockets. You just solder the the socket to the board and plug the drivers into them. That way if you ever need to replace a driver you can just pull it off. https://coralux.net/?wpsc-product=24-pin-wide-dip-socket
