DIY waterchange can

So when I use my python I get some sand in my sink and drain and that isn't good so was thinking if I could mount the python in a trash can so the same would fall to the bottom and make the drain about way up.

Run a hose from sink to python adapter.
Run hose from the drain to my sink or shower, floor drain..

All the sand would be stuck at the bottom of the can. Anyone do e this?

Nope, I don't

When I had a sandbed, connected the phyton straight into the kitchen faucet and bought one of those really long python tubes, and used a fine metal strainer to capture most of the remaining fine sand grains. Then I would rise out that fine strainer (real quick) with the sink's sprayer in a plastic bag.

I've been bare bottom for a long time but still use the python every week in the below manner with that Amazon tube.

Python would not help me out, so I measured hose ID and it came out to take an 5/8" OD tube.
