Will acans fight each other if the polyps touch each other. I'm new to these, and wonder if I need to maintain space between my little colonies, or if the polyps are ok touching? Thanks.

Yeah they can be touching,
Back when Aussie Lords were really booming we bought $15,000 worth and ran out of room many of them touched each other with no problems.

The lord acans I have do not seem to bother each other. I have an acan echinata that absolutely torched a colony of micromussas that I let get too close. Since then I won't let that acan get remotely close to anything else in my tank.

keep in mind though, if they are too overlapped in your tank, one will likely "puff up" bigger than another, and by simple lack of light and access to food, underlying polyps will die...however, you dont see it, and it doesnt spread, so its not really an issue...just thought i would give you that heads up.

yeah, i agree with the above. except, keep them away from other stuff, too. my lobo and lord didn't along too well. my lord still has a circle where the polyps were stung and died. and they were about 1.5" away from each other. it's like the guts came out of the lobo, then reached out and touched someone
