Weird, I have a harem of Bartlett Anthias in my Red Sea tank, added a harem of Lyretail Anthias, and all the Lyretail are GONE! And those Lyretails can live in an ashtray usually, so I think something got them. Other fish are Gem Tang, Tomeni, and some damsels plus my Borbonius Anthias trio.

My guess they couldn't settle due to stress and aggression from the existing fish. Bartletts and Borbonius Anthias can be aggressive with other anthias, especially new fish. Tomeni can be aggressive with new fish. I have never kept a Gem so can't comment. 'some damsels' you don't say which type or how many but they can be aggressive, especially if the new fish try to 'invade' a territory, not allowing the new fish to settle.
I have found with Anthias (all types) is they need time to find a place to sleep and settle, if the sleeping places are all taken they do suffer stress which weakens them.
