The question is just that. I see my blue-legged hermits picking the stem of the feather duster sometimes. The feather duster doesn't seem to be harmed, looking and acting fine.

Possibility... but I feel they may just be picking at excess detritus that has accumulated around the feather duster...

That was what I was thinking when I first saw the crabs around it. The feather duster didn't seem to be threatened or anything.
