I have been looking for some information on where to get the stuff to make my own dip for corals. i have always used either pro-coral or lugols but as much of that stuff as I go through there must be a way to save a little. Does anyone know of any links or have you heard of any ideas? I know your suppose to stay away from all the alcohol preps. any input would be appreciated.

I used to make my own dip for a while. Used the Iodine made by Sera, its very concentrated only need a couple drops. It was very economical.

For one cup of water I used two drops of Sera Iodine, couple drops of SAL Flatworm exit, and a tiny pinch of crushed interceptor powder.

Right now I went back to Tropic Marin coral cure and still use interceptor

You can make Lugol's solution yourself, or go to a compounding pharmacy to have it done for you. It's just 5% Iodine (I2) and 10% Potassium Iodide (KI). No alcohol.

5g iodine (I2 - resublimed iodine is fine)
10g potossium iodide (KI)
RODI water up to 100 ml volume

I use 15-20 drops of Lugol's/gal reef water for dipping sps.
