Do led's absolutely need to be beneath a splash guard?

I'm thinking of adding some royal blue led's to my 12g nano with CF bulbs. The LFS has a single strip that adheres with double stick tape. Could I affix it to the outside of the splash guard? I don't think it will fit inside with the other lights. My guess is no but thought I'd ask.

It wont hurt, I splashed water on one of my leds by accident once. The whole.string started to flicker on and off....for the money leds cost, a cheap $4 piece of plastic is a good investment and peace of mind.

if you're talking about stunner strips, which it sounds like you are. those are sealed in plastic so they are pretty much waterproof. i have ran them stuck to the inside of a biocube hood before.

Thanks! I think that's what they are. It's just one long strip, 12 inches I think.

One of mine fell in for a while. A few leds dropped but it still works. I think it was like that for a few days in the water. Thet are tough. I just saw reflectors for them as well.

cut a gap in the hood, secured it with zip ties and these adhesive squares you can get at home depot that you can attatch zipties to.
