One of the coolest things for me after being away from the hobby for a decade and a half is the tech. Advanced controllers, LED lighting, controllable pumps, and much more becoming mainstream. One of the pieces of tech (not really reef related) I really like are cams. It's really comforting when I'm away to do a quick visual check of the tank. It's also good to look back at footage when something happens to help find out how and why.

I have two for my tank. One for the display and one for the sump. If you have one, show it here. I'm curious to see your setup.

Sadly, I lost a yellow wrasse when setting up this tank and was able to see what happened.

holy ****, that wrasse looks like it time warped out of the tank. I am thinking of getting cameras, what do you use?

We used a Blink camera for our tank! Not the best camera, but it served its purpose when we were out of town!

I have a Wyze pan camera sitting in a box for the past 8 weeks. I'll get it installed by August when I have to take my two daughters back to Florida for college.

I thought about it when I used to travel for vacation but decided against it. I don't have anyone I could have go to the house if something went wrong so all knowing would do is ruin vacation if I knew a disaster was waiting for me at home, I would rather be surprised.

I know right? It even looks fake.

I use Reolink cameras. I have a bunch for security as well outside the house. They've been rock solid.

Model for tank (needed a zoom): Reolink E1 Zoom
Model for sump: Reolink E1 Pro

I do, it views my tank and also my desk. Caught my step son stealing from me, dual purpose, wish I had it setup when the Oreni I had took flight like your wrasse and perhaps I might have been able to save it before it was too late. But I really think it is invaluable, along with the many other bells and whistles to be notified through Apex or whatever that helps you keep an eye on everything when gone.

Man cameras are a MUST for me! Many and at several locations

I've always considered a cam, so following along here. Do you guys use the native cam software or does anyone integrate it into their Apex Fusion app?
I just used the camera's app!

I use two Arlo cameras on my tank when away and they are both reassuring and critical when something went amiss.

Same here as @Gumbies R Us. Just the camera app.

I would say this is one of the biggest impact gadgets we can get for our hobby, now that the tech is so cheap and affordable and available

I bought a cheapie ($12 Black Friday sale on Amazon) webcam that I keep shoved next to the side of my tank -- just for checking stuff when I'm away on vacation.

Works fine to scan around and see what's going on when away from home,,, even halfway OK at night.

*serves its purpose but the videos/images aren't going to win any awards

And here's some good old fashion injunuity to make the colors look better.

I have one of those as well. I use it if I'm away as I don't like it hanging on the glass all the time. Works really well.
I think it would be easier if you made a list of equipment you don't have. Speaking of an equipment list, have you ever given thought to posting a list of all the equipment you use or updated on the first post of your tank thread?
