Loooong story short, setup a RO/DI system and saltwater mixing station in my basement, and flood the basement.

considered all flooding risk, valves etc....except one. I did not properly secure the yellow waste pipe into my drain pipe....

The waste pipe slipped out and streamed water into my basement for three hours.

***... lesson learned!

Feel free to laugh at my idiocy... after walking in and uttering a magnificent F@&$K, i did have a good laugh myself, then a lonely tear ran down my idiot cheek when realizing the lowest point is behind all our steel storage shelves.... basically where we just placed a heap of new toilet paper and kitchen towels after a Costco run!

Welcome to the world of owning an RODI system lol, hey we made water before our wedding last year and after finishing, flushed the membranes... well, I forgot to turn the water off and that lead to the system running wide open for about 6 days before realizing it was on ;Facepalm Luckily water isn't crazy expensive where I live but wow lol

Well IDK, atleast all my water went down a drain. I have had several other mishaps that lead to a bunch of water all over the floor. My story was just to highlight the fact you are absolutely NOT alone in the make a mess while making water department. It's a right of passage when you step into the world of RODI systems ;Smuggrin

If I didnt flood the floor with my RODI a few times , I would not be normal.

It’s nobody’s gosh dang business how you choose to wash your floors. This probably belongs in one of those threads that asks “what do you do with your waste water?”.

Yes! That is what I am telling my partner... and I am sticking to that story!

A little tip if I may? I kept flooding the floor because I would not get it shut off on time and my jug would overfill onto the floor. Went and picked up a drain pan and plumbed it to the floor drain. Now I set my jug in the drain pan to fill it. If I get distracted and it overflows it's no big deal now. Welcome to reefing!
