does salt go bad?

i have half of a bucket of I/O salt mix thats about a year old. should i just use it for de-icing my steps in the winter or can i still use it.

Statistically it's probably bad from the moisture that got into it, and made it all hard as cement. If that's happened then it's definitely bad. Honestly I would just get new salt and use the old salt as you've suggested. :)

If it is not hard and caked up I would use it

If it has had moisture get to it and it is hard then I would not use it

its still soft with no clumps, might just use it in emergency since with my new setup i want to use reef crystals.

That's a good idea.

I have two bricks, er buckets of Red Sea Pro Reef salt that I can't do anything with.

i have about 1/4 bucket left of RC left and I think I will be going to the salinty salt next. any kind of cons in changing salt brands like that?

Usually it is best when switching brands to mix the next few batches 50/50 to avoid a shock to the system.
