Hello,

I have never kept an anemone before in an aquarium. This is my first time having one. The anemone is in a 125 gallon aquarium that has been running for a little over 6 months. I put it in Saturday and it seems to be doing well. I just want to make sure it looks fine to others who have more experience than me.

Salinity: 1.024
Temp: 78
Alkalinity: 9
Nitrates: 0
Phosphates: 0
Ph: 8.2

I have a Fluval Sea light (pictured below) and a Magtool (DC gyre wave maker)

Salinity, phosphate and nitrate are low. Salinity 1.026, nitrate 5 minimum, but above 10 better. phosphate above .03 to .1, the low nutrients are risking a dino outbreak. The symbiotic relationship with algae in the anemone needs the nutrients. I don’t think your light is adequate for long term health. Just my opinion on this. Probably some better opinions out there. My bta is doing well in this range. Started with one and now has multiplied to 7.

Salinity: 1.024 is fine if it's like that all the time not to low it just right but it can't change fast but if you slowly get it up it will be fine if you slowly been it up to 1.026

I test the salinity every day to make sure it doesn't fluctuate too much. Would moving it up to 1.025 be better for it?

What light would you recommend? and how do I introduce the new lights without stressing the anemone out, cause I know they are very sensitive to changes in their environment

A light capable of getting your par up above ~200 would work. I use kessil lights. My par is 150 to 375. My bta’s are in various spots all wanting different par. You said you just added it Saturday so it’s not even acclimated to your light yet. It’ll move around and get closer to the light if it’s needing the higher par. But with the low nutrients the lower par might be better for now.

it’s good to bring your salinity to NSW levels at 1.026. All saltwater inhabits will do better at that level. Slowly bring it up over a couple days. As also mentioned above, you really need about 10ppm nitrate and .1 phosphate for it to be really happy.

The anemone looks good as its foot is planted. Chances are if it’s not getting enough light it’ll move higher on its own. All anemones are different. I have about 40 in my tank and they all split from the same one. Some of mine like low par around 75 and some are at the top of the rocks where my sps grow getting 650 par. It’s really just unique to the anenome.

If you ever get time check out my build thread and see some of these anemone.

Awesome thank you, I'll slowly raise it up over the next couple days till it's at 1.026. I will raise my nutrients as well. Thank you so much for the advice
