Here’s my top-down picture, blue lighting (Radion Gen 4 Pro), iPhone with Orange glasses filter only (no other adjustments)

Just curious, as I’m not sure if I just have another PPT, since the body of my acro is much more golden than green

That looks normal for a small developing frag. As it grows larger the pink on the growth tips should be a good 1.5-2" down the branch. If it isn't, you have one of the many fakes or a look a like that goes by a different name. If the coral is unhappy it may have shorter pink tips, but it's an easy coral to keep so you should experience the long pink tips.

There can be some yellow/golden and sometimes pinkish patches at the base.

These are original pictures from when I bought a frag in 2005 for reference.

Even with a small developing colony you should see many long prominent pink tips.

Wow, that’s going way back, 2005! Thanks for the solid info! Yes, I will have to wait a while to see many more growth tips, but this one has a good chunky base to start off with. This is a mariculture acro that I acquired a year ago; so, not saying it’s a Paletta Pink Tip… just might be better looking because of having a very golden base color

Ok I see, so you may have what some call a Rainbow Loom and there's another name that gets floated around a lot. I doubt they came from an original Paletta frag.

Most people probably don't give a darn, but I do because it has a history with me.

I bought the original frag back in 2005........those pictures are from 2014. I've grown this coral out to full colonies at least 4 times. All are lineage from that frag in 2005

This is a current colony I have

Awesome! For sure that picture speaks volumes to me. Thanks for clearly answering my question. Now I know what a true PPT acropora looks like. People kept telling me I had that, and I kept doubting. That’s a very beautiful picture by the way!!

Glad BigE jumped in, I just got a frag of his PPT a few weeks ago and I can't wait for it to start growing. I saw his colonies in person and they were really nice looking. Really green bases with those nice pink tips.

Thanks for chiming in @Big E . I’ve always wondered if reefers have mixed up paletta pink tip and rainbow loom enough that the lineages are muddled. I had both (two pieces sold to me as pink tip and rainbow loom respectively) and I ultimately got rid of one of them because they looked identical.

Here’s the one I kept. Would you say it’s more similar to rainbow loom?

From what I have seen in pictures it doesn't look like an original Paletta Pink tip.

I really can't say that if they did a dna type test they aren't the same species. All I really know is that mine has original lineage & when it's growing and coloring well the pink tips are very long on the branch up to 2". So I guess all I'm saying is the morph of my coral is outstanding and an OG! :)

That’s good to hear. I might give paletta pink tip a try in the future, one with true lineage. I just don’t like having duplicates in my system .
