Drilling 40 gallon breeder

I'm looking at drilling my 40 gallon breeder to use as a frag tank. How big of hole(s) should I drill for an adequate overflow? I'm looking at having a total of 1500 gph return through 2 3/4 inch seaswirls! Also how far apart should I make the overflow holes if I do multiple and how far from the edge of the glass should I make the hole(s)? Thank you in advance for any advice or directions to any information.

I would two 1" drains, placing the edge of the hole about 1.5" from the edge of the glass. I would place them in opposite corners on the 18" side.

The attached picture is a 58 gallon but I had a 40 breeder and drilled it in the same locations. This is just one of two overflows in the tank. They are both drilled for 1" overflows.

Cveverly, where did you get your drill bits for this

I drilled 1.5 from the edge of the glass for my 1" bulkheads and they are 1.5" or more apart. Just be patient let the drill and bit do the work. Glassholes.com have good bits!

You can get glass hole saws from here Bulk Reef Supply - Bulk Reef Supply for cheap. It is what I used to cut holes in my 270.
