Drop.2 question

Ok I participated in the group buy and got my Drop.2 and Hog.5 today(was out of state in vacation when it arrived last week). I was reading through everything and looking at everything and can't figure out how I am supposed to attach the little bit of black cloth over the LED like it says on the small piece of paper. Another question is, is there a point where there is too much air flow through the scrubber? I have a pretty powerful air pump that was given to me that is brand new that I can use but if it is too much I'll buy a couple ball valves to throttle down the air flow.

The black cloth can just be folded or rolled up, so it stays in front of the light until growth starts.

You don't need much air flow in the DROP.2, so you can tie a knot in the hose and slow down the air if you want.

Wow, I was shocked to see a reply this late at night Thanks for the info, I'll be picking up a couple check valves and some extra tubing tomorrow(gonna mount the pump a decent distance from the tanks) so while I'm there I'll pick up a couple air line ball valves to make adjusting the flow easier.

Thanks for the help, I got both scrubbers hooked up and running just now. Have vall valves on each and set to a speed I think looks adequate. I have both the LEDs in timers set for 18hrs right now and I have the cloth over the LED on the Drop.2.

Been about 8 days, I haven't checked the drop.2 yet but looking in the hog.5 I don't have any growth at all. I am thinking I either don't have enought nutrients in the tank(frag tank with only 2 clowns and about a dozen frags) or I need to cover the light some. I'll probably pull the drop.2 out around Wednesday and open it up to check growth in it.

Use a regular flashlight to look.

The HOG.5 usually does not need a cloth, but you can try it. 8 days is not much; I'd wait 14.

How much growth should I expect from either scrubber after 14 days? They have some diatoms but that is it, my Drop.5 has more algae growing in the tank than it does in the scrubber(needs a better clean up crew), I have diatoms and that is about it in the scrubber no hair algae at all.

You mean, DROP.2 and HOG.5

At full growth, 10 days should fill up either one, once green hair attaches. But it cannot attach through slime / diatoms / dino's, so you need to toothbrush off the surfaces in your sink.
