Were there any special considerations for moving the tank to the new stand since it already had water in it? I would also like to start cycling my tank while waiting for the stand to arrive. I’m having trouble finding information on moving nano tanks small distances if they already have water/rock in them. Maybe because it’s not a big deal?

Thanks!
Tips from a newbie:

I used 5 gallon buckets and drained the water and moved it close to the tanks new location.

I used the pump from my ato to put the water back in

I bought furniture sliders and put the stand on those. We moved the tank to the stand very close to where it was at and the. Scooted the stand to the new spot. This has been awesome because I left the sliders and I can scoot it out to arrange things even while it’s full of water.

Overall it was nerve wracking to move it but I was glad I got started early.

Good luck!

Your build looks good you seem to have a good idea of what you're doing which is great...but I do feel like you moved a little to fast with the goby and the other fish that died, I know its exciting but a bit of advice is to have patience and slow down I know it can be hard trust me ive been there, we all have im sure. My best advice would be to be patient because sometimes we do things so fast and we are only happy for a moment because then problems begin to come up. So just slow down a bit at least with the fish, when it comes to corals I feel they are much hardier than fish. Good Luck!

Good advise. It’s hard to go slow. I waited a couple more weeks and added a single orange spot goby. She’s doing great. So just 3 fish. My shrimp molted again and is super happy. Algae started popping up and I’ve added some small crabs and snails. They’ve cleaned up most of the algae bloom. Probably just slowly adding corals for a while now. I have 6 tiny corals and they are all thriving so far.

Thought I might update with a few pics. So far everything is going pretty well. I haven’t lost any other fish or corals since those first two fish and the one Duncan. I think I’m to the point of just trying to let things mature now.

Added a hydro controller to watch the temp and help me manage feeding, water changes, and the skimmer at night. Have started dosing all in one reef and am adding microbacter 7 to try and combat algaes. Also feeding tiger pods, rods reef, pellets and flakes.

Corals:
I’ve got a LOT of corals. I have just recently added a few with skeletons - acans, candy canes, and a cynarina button. Rock flowers are probably my favorite along with the firework polyps.

Fish:
Just added what I expect is my last fish. I’m at 5. I would love to add a mandarin but I have to wait a long time I think.

What I’ve learned:
Patience is hard to judge. I feel like I’m creeping along, but I think it’s actually gone really fast. Trying to choose only what I will love later is hard but worth it. Take pictures at the store. Write down names. Study and be selective.

Here’s a few updated pics. I’ve added several more coral. This week i got a small bubbletip anemone. Fish are all doing great. I think I’m at my capacity with 5. I love my pincushion urchin. He’s the most entertaining.
