Ok, I'm stumped, I noticed in the past few days that my amp readings on my older EB8 has decided to go wonky and now flatline meaning I am powering devices through it but it shows zero amp draw. I tried the telnet 'zeroeb8 "x" ' command to no avail. Only difference is that now its flatlined. Anything else I can do, or is the EB8 getting long in the tooth and should I prepare for its retirement. I have another eb8 & eb4 on standby if needed just wanted to see what else I can do. This is being ran on a older black color apex classic btw.

Is it really flatlining (reading 0) or is the autoscale making it look wonky? What do you have connected to this? It’s really noisy

Yup reading zero. Skimmer, return pump ATO pump t5's powered through it. Its normally running between 1-2.5 amps. Those pictures are over the week above, the ones posted below are over 24 hour periods.

Working as it should:

Last ditch effort is to completely delete the EB8 and reconnect in the hopes that there was some software glitch on the head unit. Otherwise, it is quite possible the current sensing circuit failed inside.

Thanks @_AV , Ill give that a try when I get home.

Is it even worth it to send in for a repair or just let it chug along as is? Like I said both the classic controller and particular EB8 is over 10 years old @ this point. I have a spare eb8, I just dont want to deal with printing out the summary and reprogramming it, If I swap it out.

@Lbrdsoxfan I’d either replace it or ignore it unless you need to measure current for some reason.
Its not a killer issue for me, just wanted to see if there was an easy fix. Eh I cant complain this eb8 I already replaced a triac on outlet 3 many years ago now so ill let it keep plugging along until it cant, all 8 outlets are still switching which is the big thing I'm worried about.

It's either data communication or a firmware hang.

Replug the cable and then reset and reload the device.

If that doesn't work, it may be the current sense device has failed which would be unusual in the absence of a large overload.

Those are usually not worth sending in for a repair. They are a major PITA to disassemble and are not that expensive used out there.

Problem is finding them in a clean condition.

I hear you. Don't get me wrong, I'm always happy to help and repair a failed unit. The repair cost is going to be harder to justify for an older piece o equipment. Sometimes it's worth it, especially when a replacement is no longer available.

Agreed.

I was lucky to build a stash of new in box EB8s for future use right as they were nowhere to be found.

Based on your pictures in the toggle box thread, sounds like you need rack mounted EB8 options.

LOL, I wish there was an equivalent of this but with many more Relay outputs, connected to APEX via single Aquabus.

This above could also be used where one apex controls another. So let's say APEX A has a float switch in a sump in one room and when condition is met contacts are closed on the IO in APEX B (in my case another room). Right now I lose an outlet every time I want one APEX to tell something to another.
