While not reef related, did anyone get some cool pics of the eclipse?

As we have members from all over the world and United States, please share your pics if you have some.

You can see moon to the left. After this as it got darker, my phone lens was distorted.

I tried to grab a few cell phone pics, but they didn't turn out very well. It was a little cloudy.

We were in the path of totality, got a whole 4 minutes of darkness. I was surprised how cold it got when it was in full totality.

I'm puzzled by all the attention this event received.

I am not saying it isn't worth blocking time on your day's schedule to go outside and have a look. But all of the marketing and fuss leading up to the event is unlike anything I've seen before.

Is it necessary to:
  • Close schools so kids can see the eclipse? Why not make viewing the eclipse part of science class that day?
  • Telling people to use mass transit on the day of the eclipse?
  • Sell counterfeit protective glasses at $5 bucks each, only to have unsuspecting viewers wake up the next day with damaged vision because they used said protective glasses?
The event was way over-blown.

If society put this amount of effort into things that are important, the world would be a much better place.

Yea, it's an event that won't occur in north America for many decades, the majority of schools aren't on the path of totality, and that makes a huge difference in the effect. Totality will bring complete darkness and the "ring of fire" view while 98 percent will only dim the sky. Many people will never get to see an event like this again, so it's important to give people an opportunity to see it.
