Electric Flame Scallop

Hello fellow reefers...

So just wanted to share my recent thing I’ve noticed go on with my electric flame scallop. But before I get into detail I’ve wanted to share that I know about the care and extensive feeding required needed for these magnificent creatures and was willing to give it a shot since I could keep it in my nano where I could keep a close eye on it. I’ve had it for roughly two months and spot feed live phyto at a minimum of two times a day sometimes three times a day (on the weekend). It looks to be doing phenomenal. The only thing I have noticed about this guy recently is that the flashes are more prominent in intensity and speed. I was wondering if anyone has had prior experience or some level of expertise as to why that is? Or if it is something to be concerned about? My parameters are within near perfect ranges:

Nitrites: undetectable
Nitrates: 6 ppm
Ammonia: undetectable
Calcium: 445 ppm
Phosphate: 0.07 ppm
Alk: 9 dkh
pH: 8.2
Salinity: 1.024 G

The flashes are actually the animal flipping its "lip" back and forth the inside is lighter colored and makes it appear to flash.
Maybe with regular feedings hes stronger and back to full strength enabling him to flip faster....:confused:

Right, forgot to add they aren’t really flashes but what appears to be flashes sorry lol. But yeah I would hope it’s because of the continuous feeding and how happy it is, but still not sure figured someone here is an expert in Bi-valves hopefully? [emoji51]

I had one years ago, had him for about 3 years and lost him in a crash. Boy did mine make a mess clamping down and causing dust storms. They are cool though!

That’s a long time wow! You know mine does that literally every night so now it’s just sand that kicks up and tank water is still clear it has sifted more sand than my entire clean up crew not gonna lie [emoji1787]
