elegance coral help

I got this elegance coral two months ago. It started not doing well this week. I've noticed numerous white, egg-shaped objects on the green center. Could anyone tell me what these might be and suggest what actions I should take? Does this issue relate to pests or disease.

Looks like polyps that are in bad shape. This is a thing with elegance do fine for a while then die. I got one a short time ago that was doing great for about 3 weeks then one night it just melted. No parameter changes, no flow changes, no light changes. Was fully out the day before looked great seemed super happy. Have lots of other lps doing great nothing else affected.

Elegance has heavy polyp recession. They are not fond of high magnesium levels as well as bright light and high flow which stresses them greatly. PAR of 85-125 is sufficient and being that they are photosynthetic, you want to offer them moderate light. You want just enough flow so the tentacles are moving gently and not vigorously. Too little flow and they will likely not make it long term. Proper flow brings food and nutrients to the coral which requires regular feedings with foods such as chopped krill, Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or small pieces of fish, scallops and shrimp.
Theyre also prone to elegance coral syndrome (ECS). If your coral has this disease, you’ll see swelling around the oral disc and closed polyps and even a white mucus coating.

The white stuff is the mesothelim? mesophyllum? something like that its the ingestion organ of corals. When its out its usally not a good sign especially if it looks like that. It seems it hasnt receded yet. Maybe try some dip and move to low light med flow. They dont do well in high light at all.

Now, it's in a low flow, low light area. Previously, it was in an area with medium light and flow.

Mine is sat in 300 PAR with rather high flow.

He has noticeable growth on (what feels like) a weekly basis if not every 2 weeks.
So, flow/PAR wise I honestly don’t think we can really say much for most coral - I have Goni’s thriving in 350-400 PAR and again, much higher flow than recommended along with other species of LPS.

This is the thing with a lot of corals but seems elegance more so. No one can define a specific set of flow, lighting and even water parameters. Its all over the board. Probably a lot of it has to do with collection location and water clarity, flow in that location.

These corals do not like shadows. They beed direct light. It does better in higher flow because they dont like detritus. If detritus builds up they will detract. Most will also go through an adjustment phase where they look terrible and will balloon up as well as loose tentacles. They will grow back. Broadcast feeding is fine for them with powder foods. Update on this elegance, he’s huge!
