Elegance not doing well

My Elegance coral hasn't been opening up the last several days and just looks like this. At first I though it was just having a bad day, but it isn't getting any better. Think it might be elegance coral syndrome?

I had it down on the sand, but when it starting looking like this I though maybe a change in location/flow/lighting would help so placed it up a little higher on the rocks. It's been a few days now and no difference....

The other corals in the tank (LPS/Softies) are doing splendid, particularly the gonies. I haven't made any big changes recently.

Just wondered what y'all thought. I hate to lose it, but looks like things are going the wrong way.

Only about 6 weeks or so.

Sort of classic story where it opened up really pretty for a few weeks but then went down pretty fast.

Well maybe it will open back up. I dont know much about them....Looks like a really nice coral specimen you have

It was a real pretty specimen. We will see.....

Looks quite suspect. Have you read the article on it? Don't see any white muck but looks like the flesh has swollen up.

I was worried about it but had never seen a case of it before….

Guess there isn’t much chance for it if that is what it is….

Well maybe it will turn around but they are notorious for that

I've never dealt with it but others have and successfully treated it in the ECS article. The coral looks like it's in pretty good health so I think that's promising.

Up to you. I might be inclined to give OrionN a little more time to offer his advice. Can you get a picture or two with the whites turned up?

What’s the par at? The thread on ECS indicated it might partially be a higher light intensity issue as these corals have been collected from increasingly deeper water. My elegance in the past have done well with par around 100 and feeding a couple times a week with frozen mysis.

To be honest I'm not quite sure but it is definitely over 100 now that I took it off the sand.

Since putting it on the rocks didn't help I think I'm going to put it back down on the bottom with lower light and flow again.

So I did a fresh water dip…. And looks like it survived. I was afraid that it would finish it off.

I put it in a somewhat shady spot with less flow to see if it will recover….

Post some pics when you get a chance. Yes fresh water dip will make them look really really bad and go nuts on the slime.

Any update now that it has had time to rest after the dip?
