Today i was checking on my tank and i realized my engineer goby was barrel rolling with his head pointing down and rest of his body and straight almost like a pencil. Spinning continously and at a very fast speed. What could cause him to do that? He's sitting at the bottom now by the rock work. Could he be sick? What should i do?

What have you been feeding him?

Is he wedged under the rock at all or is he just lying there next to it. If he hasn't wedged himself, it's probably not his swimbladder,

Also, How long have you had him? Was he Qt'd and how? Typically it's a sign that the fish is on his way out when he starts with the "roll of death" behavior.

I feed loaded mysis shrimp dr g's and flakes in between. He's swimming around but staying close to the substrate.

I have had him for over 52 days. He was qt'd with the others for 40 days and during this qt period they were treated with prazi pro and metroplex for preventative. I got him, a kole tang, flame Angel and 2 extreme misbar clowns and all qt'd together.

If you remember, i had an outbreak of brook that killed my tank and upgraded during the fallow period from a 55g to a 75g.

Right! I remember. So, is he displaying any other symptoms besides the rolling? Heavy breathing, spots, red or white splotches or streaks? Distended belly? I don't see these things in your picture, but you'll be able to see more than I can.

No heavy breathing, spots of any sort or steaks and what does distended mean?

i took him out of the dp and back in the qt until i can figure out what's wrong. I asked my lfs and they said it sounds like swimmer's bladder. How do you cure that? If that's what it is. I'm going to feed anti bacterial food and see what happens for a few days. I'm lost

I see what could be some signs of infection in the marked areas in the picture below. Could you verify that my observations are correct or if they are just a trick of the camera? Distended means that the belly is swollen or sticking out farther than normal, but I don't see that in the picture. It could be a swim bladder issue since they don't always present with a swollen abdomen. There's not a lot you can do about it if there isn't any swollen area. Treating the QT with metroplex and furan 2 or kanaplex would maybe be helpful in case this is something bacterial, but I'm just not sure. @Humblefish please help.

I think the stuff close to his eyes and nose are from him getting head down into the substrate and spinning like a top. The back fin was my emerald crab that saw him sitting still in the substrate and grabbed a hold of him but i never noticed the circle shaped spot on him. I have kanaplex on hand.

If the emerald crab punctured his skin, that raises a good possibility of infection. I would QT and treat with Kanaplex.
