All I know is that an 80W Solaris with white LEDs was brighter than the sun. Even Riddick was afraid if it.

After seeing BRS and serious reefs saying they can accurately estimate par from the wattage being used. What formula are they using to calculate this? and has anyone else been able to at least somewhat estimate there par?
You can get a rough estimate

Just google a par map for the light you have and the tank you have. There's someone somewhere that has already done it.

For me I have AP700 from Kessil over my frag tanks, and fishofhex had done a par map of that exact light over the same frag tanks. Sure mine might be slightly different by a couple par because my light isn't mounted exactly the same as his, but it's just a rough estimate.

Do you really need a par map? I'd say no to probably 90% of people asking this question. Those doing SPS dominant with par in the 800+ range near the top, maybe. Taking the type of coral you're placing into consideration, always start it lower and move it up over a few weeks to acclimate it to the light your using.

Hey.....if you put bacon in bean dip, it is A-ok!
There is no bean dip that is A-ok, but that is my opinion that has no supporting physics or biology to substantiate it :)
Your name, in my eyes, is a misnomer then. I had assumed you were wild for beans......Alas the bean had me fooled, but could you abide the bacon?
