Had an awful experience locally, so decided to give NY Aquatic a try and here's my personal experience. I started by contacted them via email a few times about his livestock. Michael responded to all my emails, usually within 30 minutes. Answered every question, so I felt confident enough to place my order.

I work about 45 minutes from home, so I needed to do a Saturday delivery. I'm lucky that I am in the area for free delivery, so adding $15 for Saturday was worth it. I was able to order a Majestic angelfish, Yellow Pyramid Butterflyfish and two female Lyretail Anthias for the price I paid for a single Majestic locally, which turned out to have some weird infection and died in 10 days. But, enough about that one.

Unfortunately, Fedex wouldn't give me any idea of a time, so I just waited. Fedex finally arrived at 4pm and never knocked or rang the doorbell. But, luckily I saw the truck pull up, so I brought them in right away. Everything was packaged very well, multiple heat packs, large enough bags and double bagged.

I had my QT lowered down to 1.018, based upon his email noting the level his tanks are at. I floated the bags for a minimum of 15 minutes. Afterwards, I started one bag at a time. Popped a small hole in one of the anthias bags and checked the salinity and it was 1.014, so a little lower. I dripped for only 15 minutes to avoid a possible ammonia spike, while I lowered my QT a little, got it down to 1.0175. After 15 minutes the bag was around 1.015, so figured it was close enough and into QT the first one went. Popped a small hole into the 2nd anthias bag and it was also 1.014, so did the same procedure and in it went. Next moved onto the Butterfly and it was 1.011 (checked it a few times & was the same each time). Was nervous, but I dripped a little quicker and got it up to around 1.013 in the 15 minutes and not wanting to take a chance of ammonia spike in it went. Last was the Majestic, bag was 1.015, so pretty close, dripped 15 minutes to 1.016 and in he went. They all were swimming around normally and left the lights off that day.

Not sure if any of the changes in chemistry during shipping caused the lower salinity, but everything did fine.

Next day, I threw in some frozen brine & frozen mysis and was surprised to see all 4 eating it, in the past anthias required live brine for the 1st couple days to week. Here are some photos of them in my 90 gallon QT. It was my old reef tank, which is cycled.

It's been 11 days now and they are all doing great. Very glad I went with them and wish I would have gone with them in the beginning. I would feel confident to order from them again.

I received my order today and there were two issues with it. I emailed them at noon and have yet to hear back. I will wait to comment further.

This isn't a complaint, and I am not trying to raise a negative issue (which would warrant posting in the negative feedback forum). This is just an accurate representation of my experience.

I haven't had luck with NY Aquatic. I purchased a pyramid angel several months ago, and it didn't survive beyond a day after it arrived. I contacted Michael, and he refunded the cost with store credit. I've been watching the numerous other feedback threads on this vendor, and decided I was going to wait until there was something I wanted on his site for the amount of my store credit, and be done with it.

The $49 purple tang special popped up last week, so I applied my credit towards one of those, and asked if I could get as small a specimen as possible. The fish arrived alive, is the size I was hoping for, but looks a bit beat up. Note again, I am not complaining, not trying to call foul - it's a $49 purple tang. These pics were taken day of arrival, and yes, I know I was stressing the fish out in the light, etc, but I wanted to document what I had taken out of the bag.

i have had a good experience with Mike from Nyaquatic. I also try to avoid fish being shipped especially in the winter because sometimes no matter how well their packed the weather can affect them.
