What are these faded splotches on my red Montipora cap?

Something chewing on it, bleaching or STN. Just a guess.
 
Found out it’s a vermetid snail sting
To my knowledge vermetids don't sting, they only put out mucus strings/webs, which can cause irritation but only if there is a massive amount of them a few here in there has never done anything to any corals. Most likely your tank is just stabilizing and that monti will come back slowly as long as things stay consistent from here on out. Monti's love some phosphates... maybe less water changes will do the trick
