Absolutely tops. I used to have a Pyramid Fish Trio in my 150, I have been hankering for a bigger tank to make that happen again. I'd love to get an Imperator and a Blue Face, but imagine even one might be difficult in a 180.

I contemplated just keeping one pyramid. The two just bicker and fight a lot. Either that or add another and see if 3 is the magic number.

I just booted my emperor. Sad to see him go but he was really making snacks of my acros as he got about 7” in size.

I’ve been eyeballing a golden butterfly, blue line angel, or moorish idol to replace the emperor.

Amazing tank! You have 2 out of 3 of my dream angels. Always wanted a bandit, regal and gold flake but always been to scared of the nipping. How often do you see the bandit and regal nip?

Nipping doesn’t concern me at all. It’s when the giant 7” emperor chomps 1/4” tips off my colonies that I get a little worried.

Honestly, nipping occurs and it almost seems to stop after 3-6 months. It’s almost like they realize there is no benefit of it as they never eat any polyps so they mostly stop.

Been a little busy at the beginning of the year so no pictures but hopefully this will suffice.

Gorgeous. Glad to see the tank starting out the year well.

Sorry to hear about having to boot the Emperor. You still have an absolutely beautiful reef with an amazing selection of fish and corals.

Thank you! He was always going to be a guest fish in the long run. Even a 215 gallon is much too small for an emperor in my opinion.

I’ll be sad when it’s the naso tangs turn in a couple of years.
Where did the emperor go? Local public aquarium?

Gorgeous tank
Thank you. He went to a giant 12’ tank at a local fish store. I get to see him a lot.
Obviously...That's your job! lol.

So much easier to just watch other people on YouTube, while sitting on my back porch... :)
I’ll trade you! Beer on the porch sounds great right now.

when putting angels on a sps tank. Do you recommend getting them as a juvi?
It honestly doesn't matter in my opinion. The whole theory of feeding them frozen food and pellets when they are young so that they do not learn to nip at your corals is a fallacy in my opinion. Its innate... like asking a monkey not to swing in a tree.

What I find most successful is to have enough acros that if they do nip, it can be spread out amongst a lot of different acros so one isn't just picked on and to not worry about about nipping as there really isn't any damage usually. They usually in my experience stop doing it after 6 months to a year as they don't ever get any reward from it. Unless you're a giant emperor angel, then you go from nipping to just eating entire tips of acros whole.

Forgot I took these before the holiday break. A bunch of new goodies I’ll be growing out for the new year. Forgive their newness... took pics within a couple hours of dipping and glueing to new plugs. They’ve colored up nicely once acclimated.
