Hey Reefers,

I am trying to decide between fighting conch or tiger conch. I have a 9 month old 90g reef with a 3" sandbed. Is there much if any difference between these two? Do you think I should get 1 or 2?

Thanks!

I do not feed them, I have an NPS tank I feed tons of food. The uneaten food becomes algae which they eat up. If you have a very clean system yes 2 tigers in a 90g if you're tank is like mine and kinda dirty I would say maybe 4 in a 90g.
Nps tank, very cool. Do you have a build thread? Mine is probably medium on the dirt scale. I'll start with 2 and take it from there. Where did you get yours from? LA is normally my go to for inverts but they are out of stock.

Sand bed 100%, and you would be surprised how they pull up onto lower rocks! I have separate little islands for GSP and Galaxea. He climbs up and messes with them too lol.

I have two Tiger Conchs in my 36 gal and they keep pretty busy. I’ve considered getting a third to keep the bed a bit cleaner. They stay on the sand, only reaching up a bit onto the lower rocks to feed.

The Tiger Conch are considerably smaller. A Florida Fighting Conch will be 4"ish but a Tiger will max out at 2"ish. Currently I have 3 Tigers in my 180 and they barely make a dent. Just bought a 3" Fighting Conch today hoping it makes a difference... So far its considerably more busy than the tigers.

I have one of each in a 75. No issues keeping both. And no they don’t fight even when you put them right next to each other.
