Will a file fish work in my reef tank?

I have one in mine, one year. No problems yet. The smaller it is when you purchase it the better.

I put this fish in my tank a week ago.

Well mine didn't eat or nip at anything for over 2 years. As of the last 2 months he has snacked on some zoas, frogspawn, leather and a toadstool. Not sure what changed in him. I keep him (and all the fish) very well fed. Guess he just wanted some variety. He is about to go...

I mean he didn't any coral for 2 years. He eats PLENTY of mysis, flake and nori. Yes it should eat aptasia but once that is all gone, he will be on the look out. I found out the hard way.

I've had mine about a year now. It definitely eats all the aiptasia They are known to start snacking on other corals once the aips are gone. I feed it rocks from the other tanks with aiptasia on them. So far it's kept it from eating anything it's not supposed to.

My file won't even eat what he IS supposed to >.< my aiptasia problems are as bad as ever.

On the upside, he's not bothering my corals either...so for now he gets to stay.
