There are actually six pumps two MP 40s and four Neptune Powerheads.

It’s a lagoon style 150 so it’s got a wider footprint than a standard 24 foot wide - basically I’m just trying to make up for any dead spaces with the additional two. It also helps to mitigate directional flow aimed at the coral, consequently I mitigate powerhead longevity by running at half the power while eliminating as many dead spots as possible.

Thanks. I'm not suffering from any of those (probably just jinxed myself) but I like to be armed with as much info as possible just in case. You can never say never in this hobby. LOL

well now i dont want to show my tank lol you have some awesome equipment. I really want a controller. ive seen a lot of reviews about the apex not being the most reliable for what it costs, have you had any of those negative experiences with it?

The on/off functionally of the controller hasn’t caused me any issues.

I do have the newer EB8’s with the solid-state relays (PCB Circuit board) so that issue is not a problem for me.

The alerting functionality seems to work quite well.

One thing that you will want to pay very close attention to is that there is a huge lag time with regards to what is shown on APEX Fusion cloud as opposed to what is displayed directly from the unit either by its display or using the local IP to connect to the backend. This is extremely frustrating when you’re trying to calibrate something like a pH probe and need to wait for the reading to stabilize. That is the main reason I would rather use the old fashion display to calibrate any probes.

***Probe calibration is also another area that can sometimes be a little iffy to get correct. The salinity probe is probably one of the toughest ones but it’s definitely doable.

I’ve yet to have any real reliability issues with the controller itself but I have had some issues with the Trident unit and I don’t trust its readings, i’ve done numerous side-by-side test to validate it’s readings and unfortunately they have been way off in some instances even with the level of error that is allowed for them. I don’t let it control my dosing anymore. I use it more as a general visual aid with regards to my alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium.

Honestly there’s a lot more and maybe this might be a good topic we can touch on during one of the meetings for the club. ( @kgstei )
