Hey all, a couple of weeks ago I noticed some green and brown spots which I'm assuming is film algae (the brown could be diatoms as well). Over the last week it has started getting worse. Just wondering if I should take action or if I should let it run its course.

Should probably give some info about my tank haha
My CUC consists of
2 Astrea
2 Cerith
1 Trochus

My parameters are
Nitrites and Ammonia: 0
Nitrates: around 20
Phosphates: 0 (assuming the algae has it locked up)
SG: 1.025 (don't know if it matters?)

I recently bought the InTank media basket for the Evo 12 and plan on attempting a refugium so that may help a bit.

New tank = new growth. Let it ride. If its a problem in a year then you can do something about it.
It works like this
Ammonia to nitrite to nitrate to film and micro algaes. Then organisms grow to eat that. Then more stuff grows to eat them and so on..

Your rocks will have many things grow on them in many different colors, this is simply from being a new tank, me personally I would vacuum the sand when ever your next water change is for aesthetics and to keep it from over running my sandbed
