Filter cups.. what to do with them?

My sump came with two filter socks that I got tired of cleaning so often so I then ordered two custom built filter cups with holes in them. Only problem is I am unsure what to fill them with. Essentially they aren’t doing anything but letting water float through them. What’s the preferred media to use? I heard people use pillow insides or something but don’t want to risk it.

I don't have them, but when I looked into them a number of members said simple aquarium filter floss. easy to use and remove and cheap

some folks use filter pads they cut to size
