Hi, I’m thinking of turning this aquaone opticlear 120 into a reef tank, I’m abit stuck on what filtration route I should go down. I’m thinking either a Tidal HOB or a Fluval canister filter because I’m limited for space, the tank is 120cm x 30cm x 30cm and 100Litres. Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated, thank you.

and with the canister, you can put the returns on a Y and have them exit on separate sides of the tank.....hopefully no need for any wavemakers

Welcome to R2R!
Check out the Oase bio master line of canister filters. I have 2 and I love them. You can find one to suit your needs.
Thank you for replying, I will have a look into them. Do you have suggestions on which one to go for and what type of media would I need to put into it?

I personally use Fluval for my tank (3x FX6's).
For yours, IMO, I would get the Biomaster 2 -350. You can add a heater in there and the flow rate is 300GPH. Depending on how much rock, you might not even need additional internal wavemakers....Tank would look super clean....I think @Evil1 is the Oase fans...maybe he can recommend

I would go with the Biomaster 250. It comes with all the media you need.

Yes sir! Not putting the Fluval FX down because that’s what I had and loved them. I just liked the idea of internal heater and the pre filter takes 5 minutes to clean and works very well. Much like filter socks in a sump I haven’t cracked the main filter open for six months
