At the risk of sounding like every other diver you'll ever talk to. It will change your life. I live in the Puget Sound and it's cold dark and unwelcoming. Right until you submerge. Then everything else in life just disappears. It's just you and the wonders of the ocean. You're in for a good time.

I'm in Ohio. Nothing around here but quarries. Can be cold, limited visibility, no pretty corals, etc. And I've got over 1000 dives in them. It makes my warm water diving effortless so I can spend my time enjoying the scenery.
Good Luck!!!
Shore diving is the answer to that. You always see the bottom. I'll swim out and drop down but you can shallow dive out and the come back never loosing sight of the bottom. I'm sure that after a few dives and you get used to it you'll no longer fear anything in the water.I really wanna learn to dive but I get super freaked out in the ocean since I can’t see to the bottom and stuff haha
yeah i may try that! I went snorkeling off the coast of Jamaica when i was like 15 and saw an absolutely massive reef like 25 feet down and ive wanted to go again ever sinceShore diving is the answer to that. I was in an accident during highschool thats given me god awful anxiety and slight paranoiaThat’s really never bothered me but I use to surf when I lived in California and that wasn’t clear water.
Are you going to learn to dive in the Carribean, or?

No there’s a place 10 or 15 minutes from me that does everything inside and for the open water cert it at a place set up for diving in IL.
Congratulations on getting certified!!! It IS a life changing experience. I have been diving for more than 30 years and every dive is just as exciting as my first. Good luck and enjoy!
