At the risk of sounding like every other diver you'll ever talk to. It will change your life. I live in the Puget Sound and it's cold dark and unwelcoming. Right until you submerge. Then everything else in life just disappears. It's just you and the wonders of the ocean. You're in for a good time.

Oh I already started down that path with. It started with snorkeling and glass bottom boats. Even went on a submarine.

I'm in Ohio. Nothing around here but quarries. Can be cold, limited visibility, no pretty corals, etc. And I've got over 1000 dives in them. It makes my warm water diving effortless so I can spend my time enjoying the scenery.

Good Luck!!!

I was lucky enough to be born into a family of scuba divers and was certified when I was 14, its something everyone should have on their bucket list IMO, even if it's just a little "resort /discovery dive".

I do plan on eventually taking the courses/certs in order to be trimix/tech certified so I can dive the archway in the blue hole of Dahab before my time on this rock is up.

If getting certified, I also recommend getting nitrox certified at the same time, most places charge an extra 100 beans to do so and it's worth it.

Best of luck ! beware it will only make your obsession with this hobby worse! lol

I really wanna learn to dive but I get super freaked out in the ocean since I can’t see to the bottom and stuff haha
Shore diving is the answer to that. You always see the bottom. I'll swim out and drop down but you can shallow dive out and the come back never loosing sight of the bottom. I'm sure that after a few dives and you get used to it you'll no longer fear anything in the water.

yeah i may try that! I went snorkeling off the coast of Jamaica when i was like 15 and saw an absolutely massive reef like 25 feet down and ive wanted to go again ever since

That’s really never bothered me but I use to surf when I lived in California and that wasn’t clear water.

Congrats on getting certified! Be careful now though because your going to feel the need to get a big enough tank at home so you can dive at home. Lol

I was in an accident during highschool thats given me god awful anxiety and slight paranoia
i have a irrational fear something is just gonna start pulling me down like a giant squid or something implausible

You will get used to it and then you will love the view on wall dives like these.

No there’s a place 10 or 15 minutes from me that does everything inside and for the open water cert it at a place set up for diving in IL.

Is it Mermet Springs where you go for your Open Water dives? Pretty cool place!

Congratulations on getting certified!!! It IS a life changing experience. I have been diving for more than 30 years and every dive is just as exciting as my first. Good luck and enjoy!
