What lighing do you have? Is the canopy completely enclosed? If so, you may be trapping heat in it.

The canopy is not enclosed, it does not have a top or back. I did this so that heat wouldn't be trapped so I wouldn't have to install fans. The lights I am using is the Aquasun T5 HO 24". In all honesty it probably isn't even a strong enough light for my tank but I had it already and can't afford any better at the moment

It appears to be the thermometer, I put in 2 others (the other 2 are same brand but bought months apart) and they have shown 3-4 degree difference from the other one the whole time, and they are showing the same. The only thing I can think of that with the magnetic one it's touching the glass and the suction cup one sticks a little farther out so it might be reading higher due to reading the glass temp and not the water?

So my fiancé was very frustrated that I had set up the tank and it was just cycling with nothing and would say something about every day. So I went and bought a porcelain crab and a skunk shrimp. They drip acclimated for an hour and then I added them in. They seem content. Will post pictures when I get home tonight

Ma skunk shrimp! Not shy but doesn't come swimming up yet. Idk were the porcelain crab is hiding can't find him at the moment. Will post picture when I do.

Bought and installed Reef Octopus NWB-110 yesterday, starting to foam so hope good skimming starts. Bout a 2 headed frogspawn and put it in an hour ago. Hopefully tomorrow it will be happy

Sorry haven't been posting much on here. I keep checking parameters all is well. My skimmer still isn't tuned properly but almost there I think. I bought a frogspawn and drip acclimated it for 2 hours but if died 4 days later idk why... Added a bag of carbon to the sump today to help clear the water and all the other fun stuff carbon does. I'm setting up a QT tomorrow will post pics. I will be getting either 1 or 2 fish Thursday. Might get a mate for my clown but we will see.

So I made a QT. I made little PVC hiding spots and a DIY sponge filter. There is a koralia 425 powerhead and a heater rated for 20 gallons.

All that's in it is a Firefish, a royal gramma, and a fancy vivid Ocellaris to be a pair for my other.

Woke up this morning to a dead Firefish . Not sure what happened he seemed fine yesterday
