It's all looking very slick!

What brand of ATS did you buy?
Thank you! It definitely looks better with all of the dust off of it. :)

The ATS is from Turbo Aquatics.

Congratulations on the retirement.
This tank build is like buying a new motorcycle, upgrading every bit of it and never ride it... but always love coming back to look at it.
Still following!

Well, I woke up this morning and just got tired of seeing the tank sitting there empty. An impromptu start to a few years of waiting, planning, and procrastinating came to a head this morning. This is as far as I got today, but at least it is now wet. I had to make a little more salt water and will get back on this tomorrow. The rock was just moved into the display and no attempt at scaping yet. Can you believe all of that is only 75 pounds of rock? Pukani.

Well, it has begun. Bravo, Sir, bravo.
Planning and hoping it would set itself up was not working. :)
Awesome Gary! Retirement is definitely paying off!
I find that I am busier now than when I was working. I hadn't planned on that. :p
Im speechless... Exciting!
Me too! I just jumped in - hoping I didn't forget to glue up some fittings. :) The tank doesn't leak and the return side plumbing is good. One of my reverse check valve siphon breaks works perfectly and the other does not. Need to investigate. Also, one of my (new) MP-40s is not working.

Thanks for stopping by guys. I know most people following this thread gave up on me years ago. LOL!

@Fin - Nice set up brother!! I will be also running two return pumps but I am going to go with 2 #COR20's for my returns that will sit in my Synergy CL 44 sump! So far - I have plumbed my Synergy 20'' External Overflow box for the returns. Also, I still have to figure out how I am going to have my 2 #Orphek Alantik Compact V4 Gen 2's LEDS lights mounted and brackets I went with for my RIMLESS SCA 150! I just need to figure out how i am going to have my canopy so you will not be able to see any of the lighting system that I will be running on this set up. I still have a lot of work in progress to do if you know what i mean - lol.. Safe reefing from FL :):):)

Just to document that I did finish filling it up and water is now circulating in the main system. Still no movement on the rock though.
:)
I have never had a Bean Animal overflow and I have it quiet but not silent. :( Still working on that.

Ok, so I wanted to see if anyone might have a suggestion on how to quiet this overflow down a little more. Here are some pictures of what I have, an original Ghost Overflow not the new injection molded one that doesn't use bulkheads. I didn't notice until I had already plumbed the thing, that the emergency drain should have been in the center. That is the secondary drain in the middle. I plumbed them in the order they enter the sump. I made my own 1" U-Tube out of two 90° elbows that I cut down. No way a second one will fit in that middle slot, so the secondary and emergency drains are just straight pipes.

I don't believe any of the sounds I am hearing are from the siphon. The water level in the external box is running just below the secondary drain and very little, if any, water goes down that pipe or the emergency pipe, so not from them either. I think it is the water coming from the internal box through the two bulkheads. Am I running the water level inside the box too low? I have both of the Vectras running at about 30% and the siphon seems to be handling all of that well. No air is going in the sump. (Sorry for the mess on the floor behind the tank. It is a construction zone. :)
:)
)

Water level at the secondary drain in the middle. It stays about ½" below the top of the pipe.

Water level inside of the box at the emergency drain. It stays about 1" below the top of the pipe.

The top of the U-pipe on the siphon. I have a John Guest fitting to purge any air at startup. It stays closed.

Water level at the bulkheads coming from the inner box. My next step was going to be to cut some more (longer) pipes for the secondary and emergency drains and raise the water level further up in the outer box.

Also thought about raising the water level inside the sump. There is a little noise here from turbulence. I could turn down the Vectras I suppose. The water level in the sump is at about 7" right now.

I have a 45° fitting on the end of the siphon. No noticeable air is coming down the siphon. Virtually no water coming out of the secondary drain.

As I mentioned, I have never had one of these overflows, so if anyone sees any noticeable bonehead mistakes, please speak up. TIA

The water in the back box is where the noise is prolly coming from try raising the secondary to the height of the bulkheads

I did that this morning and it made a huge difference. I was just chicken raising the level in that box. Thank you for the reply.

You got room plus when water goes thru the secondary you will hear it it’s a different type noise. As long as your emergency is 1/4 inch below the edge you should be fine for the short time the water should go thru it
