Just bought an a6700 with kit lens 16-50mm(x1.5). Planning to add a macro lens next, but what focal length do people normally like shooting FTS and general tank shots at?

Any reason to go over 50mm apsc/75mm standard?

Congrats!
Focal lengths used willndepend on tank length (left to right) as wellmas distance you're shooting from.
My tank is around 7.2 ft and I shoot from around 5 meters and have to be at a
The wide side of mu 24-70 to capture the full tank. For fish shots I'm.around 50-70mm but my tank is 2.7 ft deep(front.to back)

I went with a 100mm macro lens.

For full tank shots I just switch to a more appropriate lens... But the 100mm macro works great.
