Hey everyone,

Got my first chalice frag about 5 weeks ago from PacificEastAquaculture and I've just began to notice some color loss. I can't really tell if it's growing or not, but the area between the yellow eyes has certainly lightened up. It's a 'mint drop chalice' and the only google image I can find seems to be this one:

This is mine with very little color between the eyes:

(sorry for the pic quality, LEDs+iphone+in a rush = hard to focus)

It resides on the sand bed of my 34g solana with an AI Sol Blue @100% 24" above the water line. For the first two weeks it was under a 150w ailing MH bulb, the next 3 were under the AI. Last test (~a week ago) my calc was at 420 & alk~8 just before my water change and all other parameters in line. The rest of my sps/lps/softies seem to be happy and growing. Do you guys think this is anything to worry about? Or is it just acclimating to my LEDs? Thanks for your time!

Its probably getting too much light, especially since its AI's at 100. Try moving it to an area where it is shaded or at least in indirect light. That should do it.

Ok I'll give that a shot when I get home. I'm still waiting on that new ApexJr to come out so I can control these suckers =(

I should have done more research because I thought they were big fans of light, but that's what I get for thinking!

No chalices love shade! I just got mine 2 days ago, and I have them off to the aide on the edge of a rock shaded so they get indirect light from my MH 250. Once you move them they should be ok. Keep params good!

Led's are chalice killers :) Same thing as everyone else, just put it in the shade and it will be fine in a couple of weeks. That goes for any new piece you get in the future. You can slowly move into the light after a while, as some chalices are light lovers but most of them don't like it too much. Good luck!
