First fish

Hello everyone me again xD. Well a local pet store took my damsel for me bye and ty bud! And got my first permanent fish. A firefish. Here he is! Ty all for your help over the cycle. Any suggestions for good tankmates for him? I have a 20 gallon :D.

some options would be another firefish, smaller gobys, or even maybe a cool pair of clowns;) hope that helps and enjoy your new tank:)

Orchid Dottyback... love mine. A pair of cool clowns as mentioned, a few chromis, diamond goby...

A cool clown, shrimp gobie pair, or a chromis. Make sure you have a lid on there or he will jump.

I personally like yellow spotted boxfishes myself, but care must be taken as they could easily disturbed by more aggressive fish

I'd advise against a 2nd firefish since you have a small tank and 1 established.

^Agreed completely about another firefish. Possible additions can include barnacle blennies, stigmatura blenny, swales basslet, pink streak wrasse, possum wrasse, scissortail dartfish. Sunburst anthias, plectranthias, neon goby, watchman goby.

I thought anthias got to big for a 20 gallon.
I do love the look of sunburst anthias though :)

A sunburst will be fine, about the only anthias that will. They stay pretty small, are solitary, and aren't as active as other anthias.

On live aquaria it says that they get 5 inches and need 70 gallons. Is this just an over exaggeration?

Tailspot blenny could be a happy choice - though you might want to wait for a bit more algae.

Would heartily agree on royal gramma, too. Both of those fish will center their activities around your rockwork, while the firefish will tend to hover in more open water. A large part of your choice will have to do with what you want to see when you look in the tank. If you don't like yellow or purple, then for heaven's sake, don't get the gramma!
