Hello! I am new to the hobby and have just set up my first tank. I had it cycle for over a month and had my water tested at a local store. Today I picked up two ocellaris clownfish. I do currently have one larger and smaller fish, so they should hopefully figure out who’s who fairly soon. Any advice for anyone who’s new to clownfish, let alone saltwater? Any help appreciated

The bigger clownfish may be more aggressive and dominate than the smaller one and may mess with it to show dominance for the first day or so then they’ll be fine. So don’t freak out like I did when I saw then bigger one messing with the smaller clownfish.

Let nature do its thing. Wait to get an anenome and allow the tank to mature. After a while they will find their home and guard it like there’s no tomorrow. Here’s mine angry I took a picture.

Once they bond, you’ll need to consider that they will be territorial and require about 25 to 30 gallons of your display. It’s not a hard, fast rule, but the more fish you add that encroach into their area will make all the fish more aggressive.
I dodged a bullet when I added a yellow tang, because they’re known to get along reasonably well with clowns. But they really bully their other tank mates.
Though, my experience was with Clarkii clowns and they grow bigger and faster than ocellaris. The only clowns more aggressive are maroons.
