Greetings fellow reefers. I've recently taken the dive into saltwater with a 15 gallon that's nearly a year old, and like any sane person I'm now looking to convert it into a predominantly macroalgae display tank and turn my focus to setting up a new 100 gallon. The centerpiece of this tank will be a golden dwarf moray eel, and everything else will be made to accommodate it.

The tank I've found is long. 18" deep and wide, and 73" long. Will this size tank be wide and deep enough for the golden moray? Are there any other things I should consider with the long tank and the moray, other than a tight fitting lid with no gaps? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

So bad news…. Golden dwarf morays live almost exclusively in Hawaii and are almost impossible to find anymore. Most you see online are either scams or a different species. Luckily there are a number of other small eels that will work in a 100gallon of that size!

Welcome to the community! You should reach out to @littlefoxx for any eel related questions. She has multiple, different species of eels and is a wealth of knowledge :D

Yeah as my friend @Slocke said those morays are pretty much impossible to find ☹️ but theres a few other morays you can pick. The classic snowflake is a great one! I love mine, shes a cutie! What kind of fish are you looking to keep with the eel? That will help find an eel good for you!
