Starting my first sump setup and have some questions and want to make sure things are being done properly. From what I've read it appears I'm running a dual duros setup?

A few issues in trying to iron out...

In order to keep the water level above the tank trim (so you don't see a water line from the front) I've had to adjust my drains so high up that there's virtually no overspill into the overflow box. Basically the overflow is about 1cm lower than the tank water. This seems bad or wrong?

Excess noise from the drain pipes. Seems to be excessive noise coming from the drains either due to turbulence, possibly too long of hose? The store I bought from says the hoses should be long and not short. One is a 6ft the other is a 4 ft. The coils seem unnecessary and having water flow "up hill" in some of the drain pipes seems like it would induce siphon sounds..

Im worried about siphon forming on my returns. I've read about putting a hole in the pipe in the overflow, but with my water level so high in there, don't know if this would be practical. I've tested them and they don't siphon if power is killed...yet.

Any help or pointers of things I'm doing wrong would be super helpful.

Anyone? Someone else said I should add ball valves to my drain pipe/pipes to control my noise and lower my spill. But if I lower my spill won't that lower my display water line?

You definitely want a ball valve on your main drain. You tune the valve so there is a full siphon through the main drain. It will not raise your water level as long as you don't close the valve too much. Longer hoses are not needed.
