So I’ve had my 125g tank for 6 months. Before that I had a 30g tank for a year. I think I’m finally ready to try a nano tank. I have my eye on a 6g rimless cube. It comes with a small filter for the tank but I’m considering a HOB tank. A small heater for sure. An ATO. Im debating on glass lid or mesh lid.

For lights I’m going with either a ZA1201 or Hipargero from amazon.

I’m going with dry rock and dry sand but I’m going to use some Pond Matrix from my 125g tank in the filter for a faster cycle.

For stocking I’m wanting to move one of my rainbow anemones in there. It’s pretty small. Would either of the lights I’m considering be enough?
Besides that I’m going with some Zoas, GSP and Xenia. No LPS or SPS.
I’m wanting to get a goby and pistol shrimp pair. Also two sexy shrimp for my anemone.
Besides that it’ll be some snails for CUC but that’s it

Thoughts? Anything I should change or take into consideration? Thanks!

Also, would I need a wavemaker?

Sounds like you have a plan. The stock sounds good . I would definitely have a wave maker or power head in there as your Nem will appreciate the current plus you don’t want any dead spots in the tank for nasties to take hold. You may want to consider a HOB skimmer but wouldn’t be essential . Water changes will be key with a small setup.

I have only ever had Nano’s and I find everything does just fine but I am religious with maintenance and weekly water changes . It will be fun ....good luck .

What are you planning on running for a filter? I ask because I am having a dilemma as to what to r to n on my newly started nano. I have a oversized cpr backpack that I ran on it years ago, and have no room to run floss or carbon
