Hey guys, I have an old Red Sea max s650 that I plan on setting back up. I want to convert to led as its t5 fixture needs a chiller and I don’t want to buy a new chiller. I don’t know if I should do Eco tech gen 5, 4 xr15blues or 3 xr30blue. The tank is a 150 at 5foot long.
what would you guys do?

I have 3 Gen 5 XR30 Blues on my 4 x 24 x 24 Tank with the lights 8 inches off the water. I just checked par with my Apogee MQ510 and am getting 350 on the sand bed all over the tank running at 50% intensity.

So, do you think that 3 gen 5 xr30 is the way to go for 48x24x24 sps mature tank and your color setting was at 100% ?

when i set up my XR30 blue i selected the AB+ template and it put all the color channels to 100% then i adjusted the point intensity down to the right level ( with a PAR meter of course)

I have a 60x30x24 inch display. Lighting for the last 5 years has been 5 G3 XR15’s with the diffusion ( added once available). The display was mixed with a heavy lean toward SPS. I had plenty of light with the 5 and cost me less than three xr30’s.
Just swapped yesterday to 2 Xr30 blue and 1 Xr15 blue with no diffusion as of yet. I’ve recently rebooted my tank, selling everything except fish, and looking to do a slightly different mixed display of mainly soft and LPS corals. I’m running the enhanced color template. Lights are 8” above the waterline and running an acclimation for 50 days with full intensity reaching 50% output.

Thanks everyone, I’m leaning to getting the 4 xr15 gen5s. I’ll let you know they work out down the road
