I have my eye on a 3” Flagfin at my LFS but have read they can be finicky eaters. Can any current or former owners give advise on what worked for them?

You'll for sure want to see it eat before you buy it. Watch for it taking food in, but spitting it back out.

i cant think

See it feed prior to buying it. I have one currently and they are stunning fish especially as a centrepiece. If it doesn’t feed prior to getting it, I’d recommend trying algae, sponge and masstick. They’re the three things mine fed on instantly. Eventually she went onto frozen brine/mysis vigorously after seeing every other fish eat it.
